HISTOTECHNICIAN

Casual -- JOB # 2014.0011

  • Summary: Will assist pathologist/physician with grossing of specimens. Will process, embed, cut, and stain tissue specimens so a quality microscopic slide can be produced for diagnosis by a pathologist/physician.
  • Required Qualifications: High school graduate with background in biology and chemistry plus successful completion of an accredited course in histologic technique. ASCP registry or eligible, with intent to complete within 6-9 months. BLS certification.
  • Desired Qualifications: Exposure to one year in histology lab/previous work experience.
  • Schedule: As needed, variable days and shifts to cover business needs.

Medical Laboratory Scientist II

  • Summary: Will demonstrate knowledge of laboratory principles, techniques, and instrumentation and will independently perform routine and complex analysis in all areas of the laboratory without supervision. In addition to fulfilling Medical Laboratory Scientist duties, the will provide leadership in at least one designated area of the laboratory (Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Microbiology, Serology, UA, Point-of Care, or Blood Bank).
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent (i.e, Bachelor of Science degree supplemented with demonstrated laboratory skills). Two years’ experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. BLS certification upon hire or within three months of hire, if not certified upon hire. Certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency, or eligibility for certification with successful completion within six to nine months of hire.
  • Desired Qualifications: Supervisory experience. Experience with Laboratory Information Systems. ASCP.
  • Schedule: Full time, day shift, with rotational weekends.

Medical Laboratory Technician II

  • Summary: Will demonstrate knowledge of laboratory principles, techniques and instrumentation and will independently perform routine and complex analysis in all areas of the laboratory without supervision. In addition to fulfilling Medical Laboratory Technician duties, will provide leadership in at least one designated area of the laboratory (Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Microbiology, Serology, UA, Point-of Care, or Blood Bank).
  • Required Qualifications: Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent (i.e, Military trained- Medical Lab Specialist certificate of training obtained prior to April 24, 1995). Two years’ experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician. BLS certification upon hire or within three months of hire, if not certified upon hire. Certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency, or eligibility for certification with successful completion within six to nine months of hire.
  • Desired Qualifications: Supervisory experience. Experience with Laboratory Information Systems. ASCP.
  • Schedule: Full time, day shift, with weekend and holiday rotation.

PHLEBOTOMIST

Casual -- JOB # 2018.0023 and JOB # 2018.0024

  • Summary: Will perform various laboratory procedures in both clinic and hospital settings.
  • Required Qualifications: BLS certification within one year of employment, if not certified upon hire. ASCP certification within 6-9 months.
  • Phlebotomist I – High school diploma or its equivalent. Must obtain phlebotomy certification (ASCP) within 12 months of eligibility. Eligibility is defined as phlebotomy experience equivalent to one year, full time of 35 hours per week for a total of 1820 hours.
  • Phlebotomist II – One year of experience. Phlebotomy (ASCP) certification, Medical Assistant certification, or MLT/MT certification upon hire.
  • Desired Qualifications: Phlebotomy diploma or Medical Assistant diploma for Phlebotomist I.
  • Schedule: Casual, as needed, to cover time-off requests, leaves, call-ins, increasing volumes, etc. Hours could vary among days, pm’s, and nights. Could also include weekends and holidays if needed.
